Using lube

Using plenty of lube will ensure that the sex goes smoothly. It will prevent the anus from becoming damaged during fucking. A condom will also tear more easily if not enough lube is used. There are different kinds of lube. Water-based or silicone-based lube are the most commonly used and will not damage condoms.

The importance of using lube while fucking

Always use plenty of lube during anal sex. Without lube, there is a much greater chance that the condom will tear or that the anus will be damaged. In that case, you will be much more susceptible to HIV and STIs. Before you start fucking, you need to put lube on the condom but also in the anus. Some condoms are “pre-lubed”, but that is never enough for anal sex. Always add extra lube. Spit is definitely not an alternative to lube. It dries out quickly, which means that the condom can easily tear while you are fucking.

Safe for condoms

Using lube makes fucking more pleasurable, easier and safer. Lube is also nice with other sexual techniques such as beating off and fingering. Use only water-based or silicone-based lubes, as those are safe for latex condoms.

Water-based lube

Water-based lube is available in a variety of forms: liquid, gel or crème.

Advantages of water-based lube:

  • Can be bought anywhere, also at chemists / drug stores and supermarkets
  • Won't damage latex condoms, sex toys or clothing
  • Is easy to remove with soap and water
  • Won't leave stains on sheets

Disadvantages of water-based lube:

  • Dries out more quickly, which means you have to keep adding more lube
  • Rinses off easily, which means it's not practical for use under the shower

Silicone-based lube

Silicone-based lube is a very slippery, synthetic liquid.

Advantages of silicone-based lube:

  • Won't damage latex condoms or rubber
  • Won't dry quickly and stays slippery for a long time, so you don't have to use as much
  • Can be used under the shower or in a bath

Disadvantages of silicone-based lube:

  • Slightly more expensive than water-based lube
  • More difficult to rinse off and may stain clothes and sheets
  • Can damage sex toys made of silicone

Silicone-based lube in powder form

In leather shops and sex shops (both physical and online), you can buy silicone powders that need to be dissolved in water. That way, you can make a large supply of lube on your own. That is especially popular among men who are into fisting. Never keep self-made lube longer than two days: if you have not added conservatives, dangerous bacteria and moulds will start growing.

Never use oil or grease

Oils and grease can damage condoms. Most condoms consist of latex, which is vulnerable to fats and oil. For that reason, never use Vaseline, body lotion, sun-tan oil, massage oil, butter, hand cream, frying fat (Crisco) or olive oil. If you have used oil or grease, you will need to wait at least one full day before it is safe to fuck with a latex condom again. Only non-latex condoms made of polyurethane or other such materials are safe in combination with grease or oil. Are you looking for a lube that does not dry out but remains slippery? In that case, use silicone-based lube. That is safe for condoms.
